back from the seashore with a border

border one: diamonds

Hey there. We are fresh from the beach and very well-rested. As usual, it was so good to see all our people out there. It’s always a whirlwind, but always worth it. This was the first time we’re been back to the shore in the summertime in four years. Really, two people who grew up on the beach totally ignoring this obvious, family-filled warm-weather destination for so long—what were we thinking?! It was lovely.

I just finished my border. I had it all but sewn to the center block before I left town—one of the many things I did during my childless week. It’s not the most square bit of quilting I’ve ever done, but I think it will work out OK. I like it. I want to try the zig-zag variation that moving hands posted for my next border, but I’m a little afraid of that because it is chock full of bias edges, and the perfect square is already eluding me. I think I’ll do it anyway—throw caution to the wind!

So great to hear about an actual kid free week. And to make it even better a great border! Im inspired to try the week away. Not sure how my 3 & 5 yr lds will do but probably better than I imagine.
Can’t even imagine how much sewing I could get done!

I love the way you combined color and (print) scale in this block. It’s gorgeous.
