in anticipation of spring

o hai - i'm on yr liberty

Up until last Thursday, I didn’t even want Spring to come. There is something so wrong with that. But, I was clinging to all the wool—the cold weather things I have yet to make and the visions of evenings spent at home knitting in the couch.

Then, last Thursday I took a walk. It was the first day that felt like it might have a breath of spring in it, and that made all the difference. I’ve started sewing and not just knitting. It’s a lot of fun this sewing thing—you should try it. There’s a dress in the works, and it’s cut from the fancy Liberty cloth this silly kitten is making herself at home on top of. I do this every year, and I guess I should know it marks a turn in the seasons: I’m imagining a summer in which I only wear dresses. It won’t happen that way—it never does and it’s not really what I want—but right now it sounds pretty good.

Oh, I have that unrealized dream too. It’s such a good one to have in the dreary days of early Spring! Can’t wait to see this dress!

I’ve been thinking the same thing since January… so far at least 4 days out of the week have been dress days…
