Knitting is occupying all of my making thoughts at the moment. It’s a little premature, really. Crisp weather is not that close, but I can’t help it. My Alabama stitch top that is 90% finished really wishes that I would recommit, but I am just not feeling the love there right now. Maybe next weekend.
This weekend, I got to try on the icing swirl hat I made for myself for the winter. It came out a little too big—It looks more rasta than it does cupcake. I don’t know that I can pull it off, but there’s plenty of time to think about it. The yarn I used is beautiful handspun from jill draper makes stuff. If I won’t wear the hat, I should really take it out and redo it because the yarn it too pretty to sit idle!
The hat pattern recommended blocking on a balloon, which I didn’t have, or rather couldn’t find. It annoyed me to no end that I couldn’t find the package of balloons that I know I bought for a girl scout activity some time ago. Eva felt terrible about me not being able to find the balloons and strongly supported the idea of me going out to buy more. Only because I needed to practice learning to drive stick so that I could be a sleepover hero (and not make everyone get up to take me to work), Elie and I went on a diving date to Dollar General where they had a pack of balloons for .95. I had to blow up the balloon inside the hat. It was fun in the way you might think, though I’m now sure I blew it up too big and that is why my hat doesn’t fit.

Adorable hat…I’m still waiting for my mom to teach me to knit. Lol. I write a coulumn about reusing, repurposing, and recycling at Examiner.com and I recently mentioned your lunch sack tutorial in one of my articles. I have included the link. http://www.examiner.com/recycling-in-san-francisco/back-to-school-waste-free-lunch-gear-for-kids-and-grown-ups
Have a wonderful day!
