I’ve started an x and + quilt. It happened a little by accident, you know, I just wanted to try a block. The block was fun to put together, so I kept making them. And yeah, it really was fun. Sometimes people say that and I think they might be lying, but this was truly fun. Right now I’m 30 blocks in, and the novelty has worn off a bit, but I’m aiming for 48. The end is in sight.
I love stacking quilt blocks up and seeing their seams and all the threads that need to be trimmed all lined up. Piles of completed things are really satisfying.

I used badskirt Amy’s tutorial. The block took the quilt blogs by storm about a year ago, but I was busy then, so I’m being into it right now. The block is based on a super scrappy version from the Tokyo International show, but I wanted some more order, so all my blocks have pink pluses, blue x-es, and green spacer squares.
Also, this quilt makes me think of the implications of putting a common boolean operator symbol in the title of a project with internet popularity. How to best write about it and search for it?! Japanese X and Plus? Japanese X & +? Japanese x and +?

I love your x & + blocks. That block is in my queue as well, although I don’t have time right now to work on it. I’ll look forward to seeing what the less scrappy version looks like all put together.
These look great! I’m looking forward to seeing the completed top, too.
Oh, the troubles of naming a quilt block with symbols or letters! Do people call them crosses and plusses?
Looks cute, regardless.:-)
