knitting mentality

a pile of border

I didn't plan on going away, and I'm finding it hard to get words out for this post. I've been sewing very little and knitting a lot. This isn't the first time I've noticed that I blog more when I sew than when I knit, but I don't think it's the type of handiwork that motivates the posting, rather the mental state that chooses the handwork. I knit when I am busy, when I need to move around, when the ol' brain doesn't really have much left to give at the end of the day, or when my thoughts are so focused on something else that I can't create patterns or play with color.

Since my last post I have traveled to and then returned from a place I used to live, worked at work, kept the rhythm going at home, witnessed an inspiring national election, and I have been thinking about things that I can do to help others and to help us.

So, February Lady is coming along nicely. She just tells me which stitches to make and I do it, and while I'm working out my mental state, she's stitching up a sweater.

mom helen's Gravatar dorie i am trying to make that bobble sweater you made in red. are there mistakes in the pattern. i seem to remember that the main part of the sweater was a reverse stockinette but the pattern seems to be evolving with ridges because of the wrong side row is pearled, giving an uneven reverse on the right side? helplove mom

Anita's Gravatar Mental and blogging breaks are good and are necessary. Enjoy where February Lady is leading you. It will be a beautiful sweater when it is finished! And we'll still be here when the words come back.
